 40 YEARS ANNIVERSARY 

National Institute of Transport (NIT), was established in 1975 as a training wing of National Transport Corporation (NTC) and later re-established through the NIT Act No. 24 of 1982 as an autonomous Higher Learning Institution under then the Ministry of Communications and Works. The aim of its establishment is to offer Education and Training, Research and Consultancy services in Transport, Logistics, Transport Technology and allied disciplines. Currently NIT offer a total of 49 programmes being at Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor degrees, Postgraduate Diploma and Master’s Degree, with over 3500 enrolled students. National Institute of Transport marks its 40 years on Thursday 22nd January, 2015 with a series of activities to be held during the open week celebrations, which starts on 19th – 22nd January, 2015.  The ceremony will be graced with prominent Public Serving Leaders and Guest of Honour. The activities will include among others, 1. Launch of Aviation Technology Training Hangar. 2. Launch of a modern Vehicle Inspection Centre. 3. Conduct of seminars, exhibitions, sports and convocation ceremonies. 4. Conduct of the 30th Graduation ceremony on 24th January, 2015.
