Police
in Jinja District are hunting for a medical doctor attached to Walukuba
Health Centre IV in Jinja Municipality for allegedly raping a patient.
The suspect is said to have sedated a 14-old-year girl in Primary Seven
vacation, who had sought treatment at the health centre, before raping
her.
The
doctor has been on the run since Saturday when the incident happened.
The victim is said to have regained her consciousness only to feel pain
in her private parts with semen left inside. She reported the matter to
other health workers at the facility.

The girl’s parents and other women activists, on hearing about the incident, stormed the unit demanding the arrest of the doctor yesterday morning.

The
district police commander, Mr Apollo Kateeba, arrived at the scene with
a number of policemen to bar the protestors from causing chaos.
Mr
Kateeba said police had received the information about the suspect and
have embarked on a man-hunt for him. He pleaded with the demonstrators
to cool down. “We are already in the hunt for this man who committed the
offence against the minor and you need to cooperate with us so that we
bring him to book without injuring other people,” Mr Kateeba said.
He
said the police were liaising with the district authorities to ensure
that the suspect, if arrested, should be punished according to
regulations governing public servants.
